The Brookfield Properties development in Bellandur brought together employees, visitors, and community members for awareness sessions and guided registration to support patients with blood cancer and blood disorders.
Ecoworld, Bengaluru, a mixed use development by Brookfield Properties in Bellandur, hosted a blood stem cell donor registration drive in partnership with DKMS Foundation India.
The initiative focused on raising awareness about blood stem cell donation and encouraging more people to register as potential donors. DKMS Foundation India works in the area of blood cancer and blood disorders, including thalassemia and aplastic anemia.
The drive saw participation from employees, visitors, and community members. Participants were taken through an awareness session on blood stem cell donation, followed by step by step assistance with the registration process.
The initiative aimed to make donor registration more accessible and encourage wider community participation in supporting patients who may require stem cell transplants.
The release also highlighted India’s growing stem cell sector, valued at approximately USD 395 million in 2024 and projected to nearly double by the end of the decade. The sector is expanding with developments in regenerative medicine, oncology, and stem cell banking, along with a network of more than 110 transplant centres in the country.
Against this backdrop, community led registration drives are becoming important in building public awareness and supporting India’s donor registry. Bengaluru’s role as a centre for donor awareness also adds relevance to initiatives that encourage people to participate in potentially life saving healthcare efforts.
With this drive, Ecoworld said it continues to position itself as a community first destination that supports purposeful engagement beyond everyday experiences.
