Three Lakh Patients a Year Planned as LV Prasad Eye Institute Sets Up 12 Acre Amaravati Campus

N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation for LV Prasad Eye Institute’s Sudha and Venkat Jasti Campus at Abbarajupalem, with plans for eye care, ophthalmic research, training, community health programmes and a dedicated Eye and Brain Centre. ([LVPEI][1])

LV Prasad Eye Institute is set to establish a 12 acre campus in Amaravati with the capacity to provide eye care services to around three lakh people annually, adding a major healthcare and research institution to the Andhra Pradesh capital. ([LVPEI][1])
N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, performed the bhoomi puja for the institute at Abbarajupalem in Tulluru mandal, unveiled the foundation stone and formally initiated construction.
The LV Prasad Eye Institute facility will be developed as the Sudha and Venkat Jasti Campus. Along with clinical eye care, it is planned to undertake ophthalmic research, professional training and community health programmes. A dedicated Eye and Brain Centre is also part of the project. Addressing the gathering, Naidu said the institute’s presence would add to Amaravati’s healthcare and research ecosystem. He said LV Prasad Eye Institute had already delivered three crore eye care services through a network of 319 centres across four states and expressed the hope that the Amaravati campus would develop into a major centre for ophthalmic research. He also referred to the institute’s use of Digital Health Eye Profiles for timely treatment and acknowledged G.N. Rao and Venkat Jasti for their contribution to the institution.
The Chief Minister used the occasion to outline the Andhra Pradesh government’s plans for Amaravati across technology, infrastructure, healthcare and research. He described ambitions for the capital in areas including green energy, deep technology, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. These statements reflect the state government’s stated development plans for the capital.

Naidu said development works worth around ₹50,000 crore were underway in Amaravati and referred to proposed infrastructure including the Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Sports City and an international airport. He also cited the presence of institutions including VIT, SRM and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and plans for BITS Pilani and XLRI campuses. ([The New Indian Express][2])
Healthcare is also being positioned as part of the proposed knowledge and research ecosystem, with LV Prasad Eye Institute among the institutions planned for the capital.
Naidu further discussed the state’s quantum technology plans and said Amaravati was being developed as a centre for advanced technology and innovation.

He also acknowledged farmers who contributed land for the development of Amaravati through the land pooling process.
The Chief Minister said the PanIIT Andhra Pradesh Summit 2026 would take place in Vijayawada on October 3, bringing IIT alumni, technology leaders and other participants together for discussions around innovation and the state’s development plans. PanIIT Alumni India has separately confirmed the October 3 summit in Vijayawada, with areas of focus including AI, deep technology, quantum technology and startups. ([LinkedIn][3])
Naidu called on young people to make use of opportunities emerging from new technologies and reiterated his expectation that the LV Prasad Eye Institute campus would develop as a centre for eye care, research, treatment and training.
