Safe Water Access Improves for 80 Households as Dalmia Bharat Foundation Upgrades Kadapa Village Supply

Dalmia Bharat Foundation has installed a 10,000 litre HDPE storage system in Pedda Komerla village, restoring household water access while also supporting domestic use and more than 200 livestock.

Access to reliable drinking water remains a basic infrastructure priority in rural communities, particularly where ageing pipelines and storage systems make daily supply uncertain. In Pedda Komerla village of Kadapa district, Dalmia Bharat Foundation has completed a new household water supply project aimed at restoring dependable access for nearly 80 households.
The initiative was taken up after the village’s decade old water infrastructure began facing repeated problems caused by ageing pipelines, leakages and blockages. To address the issue, Dalmia Bharat Foundation installed a 10,000 litre HDPE water storage system and connected it with the existing pipeline network.

The upgraded system is designed to support regular household water requirements while improving the reliability of drinking water access. The project will also serve domestic needs and provide water for more than 200 livestock, making the intervention relevant to both household wellbeing and rural livelihoods.
Dalmia Bharat Foundation said the project is expected to contribute to better sanitation, public health and overall living conditions in Pedda Komerla by reducing dependence on an unreliable water supply arrangement.

The project was inaugurated by Somala Venkata Gopal Reddy, HR Head, Kadapa Plant, in the presence of other officials from Dalmia Bharat and more than 40 villagers from Pedda Komerla.

The intervention forms part of Dalmia Bharat Foundation’s wider rural development work, which focuses on basic infrastructure, sustainable livelihoods and community needs across its programme areas.
For Pedda Komerla, the practical value of the project lies in restoring a service that directly affects daily life. Reliable water access supports drinking requirements, household use, sanitation and livestock care, while reducing the uncertainty created by ageing infrastructure.
By upgrading an existing village network rather than replacing it entirely, the project also provides a more targeted response to the local problem, using new storage capacity to improve continuity across the existing supply system.
