Gangtok, 15 May 2026: Sayaji Hotels has entered Sikkim with the launch of Effotel by Sayaji in Gangtok, expanding its presence into one of India’s fast growing hill travel destinations.
Located in Tathangchen near Ridge Park, the property marks Sayaji Hotels’ latest move into emerging leisure markets as domestic travel demand increasingly shifts toward experiential and destination driven stays.
Gangtok, positioned in the Eastern Himalayas, continues to attract leisure travellers seeking mountain landscapes, cultural tourism and nature led escapes, making it an increasingly strategic hospitality market.
Effotel by Sayaji has been designed for both leisure and business travellers, offering 32 rooms across Deluxe King, Deluxe Twin and Suite categories.

The property is located close to MG Marg and Ridge Park, placing guests within reach of Gangtok’s social and cultural attractions.
Dining at the property will be anchored by The Cube, the hotel’s all day restaurant offering a multi cuisine menu in a contemporary setting.
Rajendra Joshi, Associate General Manager, Sayaji Hotels, said, “We are delighted to bring the Effotel by Sayaji experience to Gangtok, a destination that continues to grow in prominence among both leisure and experiential travellers. With this launch, we aim to offer a smart, comfortable, and well-connected stay option that complements the city’s unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Gangtok represents an exciting addition to our expanding footprint in emerging leisure markets across India.”

Sangay Tenzing Norbu, Managing Director and owner of the property, said, “We are proud to introduce Effotel by Sayaji to Gangtok, a city that holds immense potential as a year-round travel destination. This hotel has been envisioned as a space that reflects the region’s warmth and spirit while delivering the quality and consistency for which Sayaji is known.”
The hotel is located approximately 130 kilometres from Bagdogra Airport and 120 kilometres from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.
Sayaji Hotels currently operates a portfolio of 43 properties with more than 2,600 keys across India.
The company said the Gangtok launch aligns with its broader strategy of expanding smart hospitality offerings into high potential leisure markets.
