Rajesh Gupta, Founder & MD, Recyclekaro, said the IIT Bombay partnership is aimed at improving process efficiency, indigenous innovation and India’s role in resource recovery.

Mumbai, 13th May 2026: India’s critical mineral recovery and urban mining sector is set to receive a technology push as Evergreen Lithium Recycling, a group company of Evergreen Recyclekaro India Limited, has entered into a technology licensing agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
The agreement is focused on advancing the extraction of battery precursor related critical minerals and improving efficiency in battery recycling operations.
Recyclekaro said the licensed technology is expected to deliver up to 30 to 40 percent processing cost optimization while improving overall process efficiency. The company said this will support its work in urban mining and resource recovery.
The development comes as India continues to focus on critical mineral security and localized battery supply chains, particularly in relation to clean energy and electric mobility.

Rajesh Gupta, Founder & MD, Recyclekaro, said, “Building a robust critical minerals ecosystem in India requires strong collaboration between industry and academia. Our partnership with IIT Bombay is a strategic step towards enhancing process efficiency while also investing in indigenous innovation, talent, and infrastructure. We believe such R&D specific collaborations will play a pivotal role in shaping India’s position in the global resource recovery and recycling landscape.”
Through the collaboration, Recyclekaro aims to expand its technological capabilities in battery recycling and contribute to sustainable and commercially viable solutions for India’s future material needs.

The partnership also reflects the company’s focus on industry academia engagement in the critical minerals and circular economy sectors.
Recyclekaro is an e waste and lithium ion battery recycling company in India focused on recovering critical minerals and supporting circular economy growth. The company said it achieves over 95 percent recovery efficiency while maintaining purity levels above 99 percent.
Recyclekaro has an e waste processing capacity of 24,500 MT and lithium ion battery processing capacity of 10,000 MT across its zero disposal facilities. With more than 15 years of experience, the company works with corporations and institutions to manage end of life electronics and batteries and return critical metals into India’s circular economy.
