Himanshu Gupta, Business Head, Cosmo Plastech, said the new solution is designed to help frozen food, seafood, meat and dairy brands improve packaging performance in demanding cold chain conditions.
Cosmo Plastech, the rigid packaging business of Cosmo Films, has launched Freezer Grade PP Sheets designed for frozen food, seafood, meat processing, dairy and cold chain packaging applications.
The company said the new product has been developed to address the growing demand for packaging materials capable of maintaining strength, durability and performance in low temperature environments.
India’s frozen food packaging market is expected to reach USD 78.9 billion by 2031, driven by rising demand for frozen and packaged food products. Cosmo Plastech said its Freezer Grade PP Sheets have been engineered for thermoforming applications including trays, tubs and rigid packaging formats used for frozen and chilled products.
The company added that the sheets are intended to help food brands and processors improve product protection, shelf appeal and operational efficiency across storage and transportation.
Himanshu Gupta, Business Head, Cosmo Plastech, said, *“The frozen and ready to cook food segment is witnessing strong growth, creating the need for packaging materials that can perform consistently in demanding cold chain conditions. Our Freezer Grade PP Sheets are engineered to deliver durability, processability and food safety while helping brands optimise packaging performance and sustainability.”
The sheets offer high impact resistance at sub zero temperatures along with stiffness, moisture resistance and oil resistance. The product is also food grade compliant, making it suitable for packaging frozen vegetables, seafood, meat products, ready to cook foods and frozen snacks.
Cosmo Plastech stated that the material supports lightweight packaging and recyclability, aligning with industry efforts to develop more sustainable packaging solutions.
With temperature sensitive supply chains becoming increasingly important for food safety and quality, freezer grade rigid packaging materials are gaining relevance across the food processing sector. The company believes its latest innovation will support these requirements through scalable manufacturing capabilities and material innovation.
Cosmo Plastech operates as the rigid packaging business of Cosmo Films, while Cosmo Films forms part of Cosmo First Limited, a diversified global conglomerate serving customers across more than 100 countries.
