Premium cinema formats expand as Prasads Multiplex introduces large scale HDR auditorium in Hyderabad

390 seater auditorium features Barco 4K Laser HDR projection with brightness up to 300 nits and upgraded interiors for enhanced viewing experience

Premium cinema formats are expanding as theatres invest in advanced projection and sound technologies, with Prasads Multiplex introducing a new HDR enabled auditorium in Hyderabad.
The venue has launched PCX HDR by Barco, a refurbished screen designed to deliver higher brightness, contrast and sound quality. The auditorium features one of the largest HDR cinema screens in India, supported by Barco 4K Laser HDR projection technology.

The system uses lightsteering technology and is capable of delivering brightness levels of up to 300 nits, improving image clarity, colour depth and contrast compared to conventional projection systems.
The 390 seater auditorium has also undergone a full upgrade, including a flat aspect ratio screen, redesigned interiors, improved seating and enhanced acoustics to support the overall viewing experience.

Ramesh Prasad, Managing Director at Prasads, said, “Prasads Multiplex has always focused on bringing the latest advancements in cinema technology to audiences. The introduction of PCX HDR by Barco continues that legacy by offering audiences a new level of visual fidelity and immersion on the big screen.”
He added that the new auditorium complements the multiplex’s existing screens, including its premium large format screen, now rebranded as PCX Infinity.

Prasads Multiplex, located in Hyderabad, has been a major exhibition venue since 2003 and continues to adopt new technologies as part of its cinema offering.
The development reflects a broader shift in the exhibition industry, where theatres are focusing on enhanced formats to attract audiences and improve the overall cinematic experience.
