Ashish Pradhan, President, Siegwerk Asia, said the Pur Village pond restoration in Khairthal Tijara District combines water conservation, plantation, community participation and long term pond maintenance.
Rajasthan, June 5, 2026: Siegwerk India is restoring a historic community pond in Pur Village, located in Kotkasim Block of Rajasthan’s Khairthal Tijara District, as part of its CSR work focused on environmental sustainability.
The company has invested INR 70 lakh in the project, which covers ecological restoration, water conservation and community led sustainability. The pond is spread across nearly 11 acres and was once an important social and cultural space for the village.
Over the years, the pond deteriorated due to neglect and waste dumping from nearby shops. Despite this, it continued to collect rainwater during the monsoon, making it suitable for restoration and long term conservation.
The project began on November 21, 2025, and is expected to be completed by September or October 2026. It is expected to generate around 1200 man days of employment during implementation.
The restoration has strong local significance because the pond was once a gathering place where residents met, socialised and celebrated community traditions. Many villagers also learned to swim there, making it part of Pur Village’s shared memory.
The site was selected because of its ecological recovery potential, available space for community use and strong local support. The surrounding area may include green spaces, walking tracks, seating areas, a gazebo, fitness facilities and plantation.
Siegwerk’s work in Pur Village began in 2025 with a plantation initiative, where residents voluntarily contributed 3000 square meters of land. As part of the initiative, 530 saplings were planted, many of which have grown into healthy trees. The local community has continued to maintain the plantation site.
The company has also previously restored a community pond in Dhaki Village, supporting its focus on water conservation and rural ecosystem revival.
As part of the Pur Village project, Siegwerk plans to plant 2000 native saplings during the monsoon. Early signs of ecological recovery have already been observed, with fish, frogs and turtles seen during dewatering activities.
To address waste dumping and prevent future damage, Siegwerk’s CSR team and implementation partners conducted awareness campaigns with local shopkeepers, more than 300 school students and village residents.
Siegwerk employees have also participated in the restoration alongside community members. A Pond Maintenance Committee has been formed to oversee upkeep, community participation and long term care of the restored water body.
“At Siegwerk, sustainability is deeply connected to the well-being of the communities around us. The restoration of the Pur Village pond demonstrates what can be achieved when environmental responsibility is combined with active community participation and a shared vision for the future. We have been particularly encouraged by the commitment shown by the villagers, whose involvement has been instrumental in driving this project forward. Together, we are helping preserve a valuable community asset that will benefit generations to come,” said Ashish Pradhan, President, Siegwerk Asia.
Once completed, the restored pond is expected to serve as a water resource, biodiversity site and community space for Pur Village.
