DFS Workshop Focuses on Reservation Policy and Accessibility for Persons With Disabilities

The two day Bengaluru programme brought together senior management and Chief Liaison Officers from banking, financial and insurance institutions to address reservation policy and accessibility

The Department of Financial Services, Welfare Division, Government of India, organised a two day workshop on the Reservation Policy of Government of India and Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities in Bengaluru.
Held on August 20 and 21, 2026, the workshop was hosted at the Union Bank Knowledge Centre and focused on building institutional capacity and improving operational understanding of reservation policies and accessibility requirements for Persons with Disabilities across the banking, financial and insurance sector.
The programme brought together senior management representatives and Chief Liaison Officers from Public Sector Banks, the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, PFRDA, IRDAI, LIC, public sector insurance companies and financial institutions.

A key objective of the workshop was to improve participants’ understanding of the constitutional provisions governing reservation policies, roster management and the promotion of Persons with Disabilities.
The programme also addressed physical, digital and workplace accessibility under the Sugamya Bharat initiative.
By covering policy requirements alongside the practical dimensions of accessibility and inclusion, the Department of Financial Services sought to provide participating institutions with greater clarity on implementing relevant measures within their workplaces.

The workshop focused on moving institutional approaches beyond statutory compliance by improving understanding of how accessibility and inclusion can be incorporated into workplace practices across public sector financial institutions.
Through the two day programme, the Department of Financial Services aimed to equip participating organisations with knowledge related to reservation policy, accessibility requirements and workplace inclusion for Persons with Disabilities.
