Aahwahan Foundation reaches 314 sanitation facilities with Gawal Pahari project

Braja Kishore Pradhan, CEO and Founder of Aahwahan Foundation, and Bharati Gautam, Operation Director at NTT DATA Gurugram, said the facility aims to improve hygiene, student comfort and responsible use of shared school spaces.

Aahwahan Foundation, in collaboration with NTT DATA, has launched its 314th Model Toilet facility at Government Senior Secondary School, Gawal Pahari, Gurugram, Haryana.
The initiative addresses the need for improved sanitation infrastructure in the school and aims to support better hygiene practices, student comfort and overall well being. The facility has been designed to provide students with clean, safe and private sanitation access during the school day.

For students, access to well maintained toilets can directly affect attendance, confidence and daily participation in school. The project seeks to remove discomfort around basic hygiene needs and create a more dignified environment for learning.
“When I visited the school, my heart was truly overwhelmed by what I witnessed. The condition of the students’ toilets was particularly distressing; it was evident that they were managing with facilities that fell far short of even the most basic standards of hygiene and dignity. In that moment, I realized this was not merely about building infrastructure, but about responding to an urgent and human need. Every student deserves a safe, clean, and dignified space where they can maintain proper hygiene without discomfort or hesitation. Through this initiative, we are striving to restore not just sanitation, but also confidence, dignity, and a sense of normalcy in their daily school lives. I strongly believe that when such essential needs are met, it empowers students to adopt healthier habits and move towards a brighter, more secure future,” said Mr. Braja Kishore Pradhan, CEO and Founder, Aahwahan Foundation.

The initiative also focuses on behaviour and responsible use, not only construction. The newly developed facilities are encouraging students to take ownership of shared spaces, with teachers and staff observing improvements in cleanliness and discipline within the school environment.
“It is truly inspiring to be part of an effort that brings meaningful change to young lives at the grassroots level. We strongly believe that access to clean and safe sanitation is essential for a healthy and dignified learning environment, and we are proud to support a vision that nurtures well being, confidence, and a better future for students,” said Mrs. Bharati Gautam, Operation Director, NTT DATA, Gurugram.

Aahwahan Foundation said it focuses on sustained usage rather than one time infrastructure delivery. The organisation aims to create facilities that students respect, maintain and use regularly, so the impact remains part of everyday school life.
With more than 314 sanitation facilities established, Aahwahan Foundation continues to work across education, hygiene and community development. The initiative also aligns with national goals such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by showing how school level interventions can support cleaner habits and stronger community participation.
At Government Senior Secondary School, Gawal Pahari, the project is intended to make sanitation a daily standard, giving students a cleaner and more comfortable school environment.
