50% Senior Citizen Concession Opens Goa’s Ekadasha Teertha Yatra to More Travellers

The first tour brought together 27 women for a one day spiritual circuit covering four temples, with the wider initiative connecting 11 revered temples across Goa

Goa’s Ekadasha Teertha initiative has commenced its organised spiritual tours, with the first journey bringing together 27 women to visit four temples across the state in a single day.
A key component of the initiative is a 50% concession for senior citizens, aimed at making Goa’s spiritual and cultural experiences more affordable and accessible to older travellers.
Ekadasha Teertha brings together 11 revered temples across Goa through a curated travel circuit. The initiative provides visitors with an organised way to explore the state’s temples, traditions and cultural heritage beyond its conventional tourism destinations.

The first tour was flagged off from Tambdi Surla and covered Shree Mahadev Temple at Tambdi Surla, Shree Devkikrishna Devasthan at Marcel, Shree Mahaganapati Devasthan at Khandola and Shree Anant Devasthan at Savoi Verem.
Participants were able to visit all four places of worship within a single day through organised travel arrangements and facilities.
Rohan A. Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, said, “Goa’s identity is deeply rooted in its centuries old traditions, its historic temples and its unique heritage. The Ekadasha Teertha Yatra reflects our vision of presenting a more holistic experience of Goa, where visitors can immerse themselves in the State’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy. As we continue to diversify Goa’s tourism offerings, such initiatives reinforce our commitment to sustainable, experience led tourism that celebrates the soul of Goa.”

The first group of 27 women also highlighted the opportunity the initiative provided to collectively visit spiritual destinations that they may otherwise have found difficult to cover within a single day.
One participant said, “We never imagined that we would get an opportunity to participate in Ekadasha Teerth Yatra. Through this initiative, we were able to visit four temples in a single day, something we never thought would be possible. We truly enjoyed the journey and the experience of visiting these sacred places together.”
Another participant spoke about the experience of travelling as a group and the arrangements provided during the journey.

“As women, it was especially nice to step out together, meet other women and share this experience. The arrangements and facilities were very good, and everything was organised well throughout the journey. We would be happy to be part of more such initiatives in the future,” she said.
Kedar J. Naik, Chairman, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, said, “The Ekadasha Teertha Yatra is designed to make Goa’s spiritual and cultural heritage more accessible through a curated and organised travel experience. The successful first tour is an encouraging step towards taking this initiative to more visitors and enabling them to discover Goa beyond its conventional tourism offerings.”
The initiative forms part of an effort to encourage visitors to experience Goa through its spiritual destinations and cultural traditions in addition to its established tourism attractions.

By combining an organised temple circuit with a 50% concession for senior citizens, Ekadasha Teertha seeks to make spiritual travel accessible to a wider range of visitors.
Following the completion of the first tour, more travellers are expected to participate in the 11 temple spiritual circuit in the coming months.
