Tamil Nadu accounted for 25% of Samsung Innovation Campus participants nationwide in 2025, with women representing 71% of the state’s cohort against 48% nationally. Programme graduates Sharmi S and Subiksha A share their experiences as the 2026 edition targets another 5,000 AI trainees in the state.
Women Account for 71% of Samsung Innovation Campus Trainees in Tamil Nadu
Women represented 71% of the 5,000 young people trained and certified through Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) in Tamil Nadu during 2025, according to programme figures released by Samsung.
The state’s participation accounted for one fourth of the 20,000 young people trained nationwide during the year.
At the national level, women represented 48% of the Samsung Innovation Campus cohort, compared with 71% in Tamil Nadu.
The figures highlight a higher proportion of female participants in Tamil Nadu’s technology training programme.
Four Technology Domains Covered in 2025
During 2025, Samsung Innovation Campus offered training in artificial intelligence, coding and programming, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The programme also incorporated communication, problem solving and workplace readiness skills intended to help participants prepare for professional opportunities.
Training combined technical instruction with practical assignments and project work.
The initiative was designed to provide young people with exposure to technologies used across different industries.
Participants Share Their Learning Experiences
Sharmi S, who completed the programme in Tamil Nadu with a specialisation in artificial intelligence, described how the training contributed to her technical development.
She said, “My primary motivation was to explore AI, improve my problem-solving abilities, and gain hands-on experience through practical assignments and projects.”
Sharmi also highlighted the importance of learning alongside other participants and understanding the practical applications of emerging technologies.
She added, “The programme provided practical, industry-relevant learning and helped me develop both technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.”
Another participant from Tamil Nadu, Subiksha A, described the programme as an influence on her continued interest in technical learning and professional development.
She has since taken up a developer role.
“I am currently working as a Developer at Industrial Production Aider, Sriperumbudur, marking an important milestone in my professional journey,” Subiksha said.
Her experience provides an example of a programme participant progressing into a technology related professional position.
Training Delivered Through Educational Partnerships
Samsung Innovation Campus worked with educational institutions in Tamil Nadu to deliver training and certification.
The participating institutions included the University of Madras, Anna University and Queen Mary’s College in Chennai.
Other partners included Mohamed Sathak AJ College of Engineering in Chennai and KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology in Coimbatore.
These collaborations supported the delivery of technology training to participants across the state.
At the national level, the programme operated across 10 states in 2025.
Implementation involved the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), working through accredited training partners.
Artificial Intelligence Becomes the Focus for 2026
Following the 2025 programme, Samsung Innovation Campus has shifted its training focus towards artificial intelligence.
The 2026 edition is on track to train 20,000 young people across India in AI.
Of this national target, 5,000 participants are expected to be trained in Tamil Nadu.
The planned intake would maintain Tamil Nadu’s share at one fourth of the programme’s nationwide training target.
Unlike the previous year’s curriculum, which covered four technology domains, the 2026 programme is focused on AI skills development.
The company has not provided a separate target for the proportion of women expected to participate in the 2026 cohort.
Women’s Participation in Technology Education
The 2025 results place Tamil Nadu ahead of the national Samsung Innovation Campus cohort in terms of the proportion of female participants.
The difference between the state’s 71% female participation and the national figure of 48% amounts to 23 percentage points.
These figures relate specifically to participation in Samsung Innovation Campus and should not be interpreted as representing the broader technology workforce or all technical education programmes.
Nevertheless, the results provide a measurable indication of women’s participation within this particular skills initiative.
The experiences of Sharmi S and Subiksha A also illustrate how participants have used the programme for practical learning and professional development.
With artificial intelligence now the central focus, Samsung Innovation Campus is continuing its training activities in Tamil Nadu and other participating states.
The 2026 programme aims to reach 20,000 young people nationwide, including 5,000 in Tamil Nadu, as part of its continuing technology skills initiative.
