Six Time Grand Slam Champion Rajeev Ram Brings Tennis Lessons to Christel House India Students in Bengaluru

Rajeev Ram, Global Ambassador for Christel House International, works with Grade 11 and 12 students on technique and competitive mindset as Christel House India continues supporting more than 2,800 students across four campuses

Grade 11 and 12 students at Christel House India in Bengaluru had an opportunity to learn tennis directly from Rajeev Ram as the six time Grand Slam champion and two time Olympic silver medalist conducted a practical workshop at the campus.
Ram, who serves as Global Ambassador for Christel House International, worked with students on tennis fundamentals, technique and the mindset involved in competing at the highest level.
The session also introduced students from underserved communities to a sport that can otherwise be difficult for them to access.

The Bengaluru visit came shortly after Ram concluded his professional tennis career. He made 26 consecutive appearances in the U.S. Open men’s doubles competition, with his final appearance ending in the semifinals. During his career, he won six Grand Slam doubles titles, earned two Olympic silver medals and reached world No. 1 in men’s doubles.
Reflecting on his interaction with students, Ram said, “You don’t really understand the magic of what happens at Christel House unless you come and visit. It’s inspirational for me. These kids that have come from difficult circumstances are going to become successful professionals. I don’t think it gets much better than that. It’s an honor for me to be here.”

Ram also has a personal connection with Bengaluru. His late father, Raghav Ram, spent much of his life in the city before immigrating to the United States, while members of Ram’s extended family continue to live in Bengaluru.
For the participating students, the workshop extended beyond learning tennis technique. The interaction provided an opportunity to hear directly from an accomplished professional about discipline, perseverance and the role of opportunity in pursuing sporting ambitions.
Christel House India provides free education and long term support for children from underserved communities. Its approach combines academics and character development with nutrition, healthcare, social services and preparation for college and careers.

Students can begin their education with Christel House as early as kindergarten and continue through Grade 12. Following graduation, alumni can receive support through its College & Careers programme for up to five additional years as they pursue higher education and prepare for employment.
Christel House India currently operates four campuses across Bengaluru, Atal Nagar in Raipur, Pune and Thane, serving more than 2,800 students.
