Battle of the Boards will run from 13 to 19 July with free play sessions, workshops, a grandmaster challenge and an open chess tournament.
Bhartiya Mall of Bengaluru will host Battle of the Boards, a week long chess festival from 13 to 19 July 2026, bringing together children, students, families, chess clubs, academies and competitive players.
The festival will begin with a Chess Free Play Zone from 13 to 16 July. Visitors can register through BookMyShow or at the venue and participate in casual chess games from 4 PM onwards.
Arena Grandmaster Praveen Sagar will lead key sessions during the festival. On 17 July, he will conduct the Masters Showcase and Workshop in two batches, from 5 PM to 6 PM and from 7 PM to 8 PM. The session will include board walk throughs, live demonstrations and strategic guidance for participants.
On 18 July, participants will get an opportunity to play against Praveen Sagar during the Challenge the Arena Grandmaster event. The day will include a simultaneous chess exhibition from 3 PM to 5 PM, followed by the Face the Master Challenge from 5:30 PM to 8 PM. Ten selected participants will compete against the grandmaster simultaneously.
The festival will conclude on 19 July with the Grand Chess Tournament, open to all participants from 4 PM onwards.
Battle of the Boards aims to make chess more accessible while giving players an opportunity to learn, practise and compete in a community setting.
