Ellison Barber, an NBC News reporter, was filming a program about life in refugee camps when she was interrupted by a Ukrainian girl playing soccer.
Barber is now reporting from Poland on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In her Sunday Focus segment, she discussed the tragedy of 1.5 million individuals who fled Ukraine, leaving behind their homes and loved ones, to neighboring nations such as Poland, Hungary, and Romania.
“We spoke with some people here today who said they left now because they were attempting to wait till the last second.” But then, as they talked to their family members and friends outside of Ukraine, they persuaded them to take their children and come somewhere safe to Poland until they could return,” Barber reported from one of the refugee camps.
While she was reporting, she was interrupted by this happy toddler who had remained in the refugee camp. The toddler held a soccer ball and gave the journalist a million-dollar smile.
“The best interruption of a live shot I’ve ever had on (sic),” Ellison Barber remarked in the video’s comments section.
