Prittle Prattle News in conversation with Dhruv Agarwal, Co-Founder, Easydesq

1.What does Easydesq company do and what is your role in it?

Incepted in the year 2020, Easydesq is a SaaS-based PropTech firm that provides an option to employers offering to step out and work at a facility near their homes to overcome power and network issues. The brand is on a mission to make a hybrid workplace a reality for small, medium, and large businesses. The company works on a SaaS-based model and provides an option to employers offering to step out and work at a facility near their homes to overcome power and network issues. In short, Easydesq is aggressively working to reduce permanent office rentals, by making distributed work simple, seamless, and sustainable. At Easydesq, I am responsible for striking landlord relationships, structuring managed office space transactions, and product development.

2.Evolution in the past few years in the industry you work in. Your contribution to the Co-Working sector?

Coworking spaces are growing in popularity as a viable solution for companies of all sizes since they provide a flexible and affordable alternative to traditional office facilities. This industry has been here around for about 17 years, but it’s still relatively new. The recent boom in popularity is due to the broadening acceptance of remote working, a phenomenon that is only growing with the rise of technology. We see a massive opportunity in the shared workplace for corporate users who have to decide with only limited supply options. The market of flexible workplaces has expanded significantly in recent years, offering businesses a variety of solutions to match their unique needs and requirements. These possibilities encompass everything from coworking spaces to serviced offices. The adaptability and flexibility of workers’ work practices and workplace layouts will continue to be enhanced by these technologies. In the recent report by Maximize Market Research, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.9% throughout the forecast period, the global market for flexible workspace is anticipated to reach a value of USD 82.71 billion by 2027. Due to the growing number of startups and SMEs, that only need a small staff to operate, small and medium-sized businesses will continue to dominate the market during the forecast period.

Since the inception of Easydesq, we have successfully facilitated more than 3,000 desks till now. In recent months, we have also closed deals with some big players like Skoda India, Boult Audio, and MyGlamm, who were previously relying on conventional offices.

3.Any Success routine you follow and would like to suggest?
We feel that success lies in perseverance, and our never-give-up attitude has kept us going all this while, and allows us to continuously grow, and take it to the next level.

4.Have you raised funding, or are you looking forward to the same?
At present, we are a successful bootstrapped company and looking for a fundraiser in the coming years.

5.Explain Post Covid-19 Scenario for the company and your career.
The brand’s journey started with the onset of Covid-19 pandemic when offices went empty, and people felt that work-from-home is going to be the “new normal”. I along with my Co-Founder Arjun believed that office spaces would become even more important in the future, separating “work” from “home”, and making “hybrid” the “new normal”. So, you can say that my entrepreneurial journey started amidst Covid-19 which is growing at a very rapid rate at the present. Easydesq did $125k+ revenue last financial year and is well on track to achieve $250k+ revenue this FY. The company is growing 180-200 % this financial year with aggressive plans to increase the team size and grow to achieve at least an ARR of $1mn in FY23-24.

6.Why did you choose this industry over any other space?
Arjun Gulati and I always had a passion for Flex office spaces, and we always found ways to help people succeed in real estate affairs through our befitting solutions. We both come from a co-working background and having in-depth knowledge about this sector motivated us to start our own venture that could add value to the shared spaces market. In our early days as startup founders, we were able to successfully leverage our previous associations in scaling up our business.

7.An inspiring quote for aspiring youths.
In Nelson Mandela’s words- “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

8.Do you like participating in CSR initiatives, and what motivates you?
We work with very senior professionals in their respective industries and domains, which helps us learn new dynamics, every time in each of the new transactions. At the same time, we are associated with a few institutions who are working on reducing carbon-emissions, since that’s a cause closely associated with our line of work as well, as infra as an industry is producing maximum carbon-emission across the globe.

9.Would you like to name a few people who helped you the most in your professional upliftment
We would like to thank Sidharth Menda (RMZ Family), our mentor at CoWrks, helped us understand the dynamics of flexible office space and allows us to create win-win for all the stakeholders in our business.

11.Could you please elaborate on the challenges you encountered while establishing the company?
We had started Easydesq in the Covid-era (late 2020), when people were discussing work-from-home advantages, and that was a major demand-side issue since people were highly sceptical about back-to-office strategy. We saw this as an opportunity to take Easydesq to the next level, where it was much easier to on-board supply (flex space operators), on-board with us, and take the journey to the next level.

As soon as the wave back-to-office turned around, we were able to ride it and take Easydesq to the next level.
