Exclusive women lounge Woloo powder room now open at Ghatkopar metro station; women commuter now don’t need to worry about their toilet woos #woloohaina

Woloo Powder Room is a collaborative effort of Woloo and Mumbai Metro One along with Toilet Board Coalition, IAPMO and IWSH, among others.

Woloo Powder Room at Ghatkopar Metro Station is the first of its kind exclusive lounge for women that offers smart hygienic, clean, and safe toilets, a sanitary napkin dispenser, a Café and a retail area for women centric hygiene & wellness products.

Mumbai, January 30, 2022: In a first-of-its kind in the country, Woloo Powder Room Lounge – an exclusive lounge for women, was inaugurated at the mezzanine floor of the Ghatkopar Metro station by Railway Police Commissioner Shri Quaiser Khalid on Sunday, January 30, 2022. The occasion was also marked with IAPMO in association with IWSH donating free subscription of the Woloo Powder Room & Woloo App (helps you locate hygienic & safe washrooms in Mumbai) to Women Railway Police Force in Mumbai.

The Woloo Powder Room Lounge at Ghatkopar Metro Station is India’s first 1,000 sq.ft size exclusive lounge for women and the first of the only chain of Powder-Rooms for women of all ages & diversity, catering to their hygiene dignity. Equipped with Wi-Fi, centrally air conditioned facilities, 8 smart hygienic, clean, and safe toilets for women, a sanitary napkin dispenser, facility to change baby diapers, facial recognition software for enhanced security, a 14-seater Café for a quick breather or a bonding session with the besties, and a retail area for women centric hygiene & wellness products, the lounge creates a world-class experience.

Speaking at the launch Manish Kelshikar, Co-founder, Woloo, expressed, “Women make 41% of the commuters and still there is a lack of sanitised washroom facilities for them. As a step towards addressing this issue, Mumbai Metro One has joined hands with Woloo to provide Powder Room Lounge to its women consumers at Ghatkopar Metro station. The lounge provides a comfortable stop over to the women commuters to take a refreshing break and cater to their personal hygiene needs. We are looking forward to collaborate with more women entrepreneurs to open more such powder rooms across the country.”

Speaking about the need of a women’s exclusive lounge at the Metro Station, an official of Mumbai Metro One, said, “We are committed to providing superior customer service and the best-in-class experience to our commuters. By introducing the Woloo Powder Room Lounge, we will be able to provide a comfortable stop over for our women commuters of all ages. Woloo Powder Room Lounge is not just a hygienic place for women of all ages for their personal sanitization, but it also houses a Café and a retail store for women centric products.”

About Woloo
With a vision to provide hygiene dignity, WOLOO is a tech enabled loo-discovery platform app that helps women to locate the nearest washroom within 2 Km radius, whenever they are away from their home or office. The Woloo App, currently available on Android and IOS devices, have over 1200 washrooms listed from Mumbai & Pune that are hosted by restaurants/cafes known as the Woloo Hosts. About Mumbai Metro One Private Limited:
Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created to develop, implement and operate Mumbai’s first Metro Line, on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It is a consortium formed by Reliance Infrastructure Limited and MMRDA with 74% and 26% stake respectively.
