The pandemic even prompted a rise in the making and consumption of home fermented beverages to build on one’s holistic health and detox naturally. Added to this is the increase of roasteries and artisanal farms to cup coffee from Coorg to Chikmagalur and beyond across the country. The Indian spirit industry also witnessed a spike in demand as the evolving Indian youth loves to try out various Indian labels and traditional drinks like feni. People have become much more conscious of their drinking and eating habits and want to know the health and value of the beverage they consume.

“In 2021, beverages were brought into consumers’ homes through solutions that put beverage experiences at the fingertips. In addition, consumers with more time and disposable income engage in hobbies related to their beverage preferences. Our panel predicted that in-home beverages would see more exploration in 2022. Almost half of the panel predicts that artisanal gourmet coffee and tea of Indian origin will continue to grow in the coming years. Mixers for home bartending will be favored during social gatherings at home. Innovation in these areas will continue to drive the food and beverage industry to cultivate a higher share of the in-home beverage market. The panel also foresees consumer fascination with ferments is not going away, as hobbyists continue experimenting with homemade fermented drinks.”
