Devi Shanta: Who Was She? This Is Her Relationship To The Ramayana Epic!

The Ramayana is a famous epic regarded as one of Hinduism’s holy writings. We’ve been hearing stories about this epic for years and years. From the time we were infants until we were adults, we were fed facts about the epic and the characters engaged in saving Maa Sita from Ravana’s clutches.

Devi Shanta has been mentioned, but who was she? What did she have to do with the epic? Here’s a quick rundown of the subject!

Devi Shanta: Who Was She?
Maharaj Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya had a daughter named Devi Shanta. According to legend, Maharaj Dasharatha had two more queens, Kaikeyi and Samitra, who had four sons, Ram, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna.

However, there was an older sister who was seldom ever mentioned. Shanta was a bright young lady who excelled in all areas and had a wealth of information.

According to legend, King Dasharatha adopted Devi Shanta and gave her to King Rompad of Bangladesh. When King Rompad of Bangladesh and his wife arrived in Ayodhya to see King Dasharatha, he discovered that Raja Rajarompada had no children. King Dasharatha, realizing the agony of not having children, donated his eldest daughter, Shanta, to the couple. Shanta became the princess of the Anga kingdom in this way.

Shanta’s exceptional understanding of the Vedas and arts and crafts and her beauty were a benefit when she got married. When a kid from the Brahmin caste came to the monarch to seek aid in farming during the monsoon days, King Rompad was occupied talking with Shanta.

Raja Romapada ignored the prayer of the Brahmin youngster. The Brahmin withdrew from there, enraged by his carelessness. The deity of rain, Indra dev, was also outraged by this insult to his devotee. As a result, it is a primary factor in the monsoon season’s lack of rainfall. Due to the drought, there was a public uproar.
Romapada went to Rishi Shringa to solve his problem. Shringa is asked to do a yagya by Romapada. The yoga is done following Shring’s words, after which the country receives rain and the drought crisis is resolved. Raja Rompad was pleased with this and married his daughter Devi Shanta to Syringa.
