‘Poured tea on my Sabyasachi,’ says the Internet, as Starbucks announces cooperation with an Indian designer

“Get ready to add a dash of panache to your daily Starbucks regimen!” the beverage company declared in a press release regarding its collaboration with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a well-known Indian fashion designer, is known for his luxurious taste in design that extends beyond the runway. The renowned designer has teamed up with global coffee chain Starbucks to develop drinkware in an unexpected partnership, sending internet users into a frenzy.

The Kolkata-based designer teased his social media fans by asking “what’s brewing” in a video that showed the 48-year-old couturier sipping his coffee. Soon after, it was announced that the two companies had collaborated to create limited-edition cups and mugs with delicate designs, a characteristic of the designer.

“What happens when your favorite coffee shop collides with the country’s leading couturier?” “Magic happens!” is the simple answer. Starbucks’ India division posted on its social media networks. “Prepare to add a splash of sass to your everyday Starbucks regimen!” The beverage company stated that new goods would be available in nearby locations beginning April 12.

Mukherjee gave a sneak preview of his newest effort, which will take the boring coffee experience to another level in dark green, black, and maroon tones. The posts quickly drew the attention of fans, and although most were ecstatic, some thought the partnership was strange.
However, the designer then emphasized that there’s more to the collaboration than meets the eye. Tata Group, which handles the worldwide coffee chain’s operations in India, will seize this chance to promote a worthy cause: girls’ education.
“Tata Starbucks and Sabyasachi have joined to support ‘Educate Girls,’ a non-profit organization that mobilizes communities to promote education for girls in rural India,” the fashion label wrote, tagging the NGO. At the time, it’s unknown whether any of the earnings from the sale will also be donated to the cause.
Many people, especially desi people living overseas, cannot remain calm after the news, with some stating that they must purchase the drinkware before it runs out, recalling the HMxSabyasachi fiasco. Others couldn’t stop making jokes and talking about the cooperation, wondering how much the things would cost.
