Businesses need to go beyond the interests of their companies to the communities they serve.
In this day and age when businesses want to make money to survive, it has become equally important to focus on the community that they live in. At Della, there have been various CSR initiatives undertaken over the years that have uplifted society in numerous ways.
At Della Resorts, the company took the responsibility of creating employment opportunities for the local people in Kunegaon, Lonavala. 90% of the employees are local in Lonavala and are upskilled by specialists in the field to deliver the best customer experience. They developed top-notch infrastructure in an underdeveloped area in the form of electricity, roadways, environmental initiatives, and healthcare facilities.
One of the most impactful initiatives was that of Della Adventure & Resorts Z.P. Primary School whose vision is to utilize Della resources in every field and change the lives of 160 underprivileged students. These students receive a holistic education with fluency in languages like English, Hindi, and Marathi, and subjects like IT, and etiquette apart from the usual subjects. Della also provides nutritious food to every child and has kept the doors to their swimming pool open for them to take their swimming classes. The goal of this school is to create entrepreneurs and be ready for employment. These students are nurtured by imbibing culture, confidence, presentation skills, and other skills to create capable all-rounded individuals and inculcate a sense of patriotism. The company has taken it upon itself that none of these students should be subjected to manual labor but work with their heads held high in dignified professions and become role models for the society at large.
Della is also involved in other activities when it comes to helping society. It is always ready to help the community in times of disaster. When there were floods in Kolhapur, the Della team planned and distributed relief boxes personally to 1600 victims. At the same time, the mountain climber team helped evacuate victims of the floods as well. Apart from this, even in Lonavala, their mountain climbing teams rescue people in the mountains who get stuck there.
During the time of COVID-19, Della ensured the safe return of various migrant workers and united them with their families. When they couldn’t travel back to their hometowns, daily food was arranged for them and delivered at their respective locations.
These initiatives show that when a company works for the betterment of society, its efforts never go in vain. Sustainability and giving back to the society should always be an integral part of the vision of the company.
