According to doctor Shuchita Smarma (MBBS, DGO Gynae) Omicron BF7 (BA 5.2.1.7) variant dominant in China and is driving their covid 19 wave.

It has a higher livelihood of spreading and replacing other variants than the original Wuhan virus so far, it has not been known to cause any dramatic rise in hospitalizations in countries other than China.

An expectant mother is more susceptible to contract the virus due to there immunosuppressed state particularly, the ones with other co-existent factors live gestational- diabetes, plecenta previa, respiratory complications etc. Hence, it is highly recommended for all expectant mothers to get vaccinated under medical supervision as the vaccines antibodies will provide protection to the mother and baby.

Also, they must follow precautions like wearing a mask, stay indoor maintain a 6 ft. distance and have a balanced diet rich in folate, iron, calcium, vitamin D, DHA, iodine and choline which is easily available in seasonable fruits and vegetables, daily food like chapati and rice, milk and diry products, like curd cheese etc.

Protein rich items like eggs, pulses, chicken soya, dry fruits like almonds, walnuts and natural immune boosters like raw turmeric, citrus fruits ginger, honey etc.
