Valimai, starring Ajith, has become the first big success of 2022 in Tamil cinema. According to trade analyst, the film has already surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu in its first week. “At the ending of the sooner week, Actor #AjithKumar’s #Valimai joins the 100 Cr Gross Club. This is #AK’s second 100 crore grosser in TN, following the ATBB starer Viswasam.”

Despite massive success in Tamil Nadu, Valimai has yet to make an impact in the Hindi belt. “The content of Valimai is nothing new to the Hindi audience. Bollywood has produced hardcore commercial entertainers with fast-paced, sleek action sequences. The Hindi belt has also been exposed to Hollywood-style filmmaking. “For them the war of Hindi market audience, it was just another regular film,” producer and trade analyst stated in an earlier interview.

About Gangubai Kathiawadi:

The storyline of Gangubai Kathiawadi describes an actual, tragic, and dramatic scene depicting a female standing at the door, invitingly of a kotha in the bustling bylanes of the south Mumbai’s infamous red-light district Kamathipura. Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi,’ is set entirely against this gritty backdrop of Mumbai and tells the story of numerous young women who were traded off to brothels for a few hundred exclusively via the gazes of its protagonist Gangubai.

The film’s beauty lies in how it depicts Gangu’s character evolving through various stages of her life. The story takes time to unfold, even slowing down at times, but not without leaving an impression with some fiery dialogue and decisive moments.

About Valimai:

The criminal mastermind, played by Kartikeya Gummakonda, is to the Tamil film Valimai what John Abraham was to the Hindi film Dhoom (2004). The charismatic leader of a band of asphalt-burners. The gang kills, maims, and steals at will, and it has Chennai in its grip until Arjun intervenes. In the Valimai plot, Arjun is referred to as a “super cop” and a “people’s cop,” but as the villain correctly observes, he is also a “bore cop.”

Ajith Kumar wears a determined expression at all times and alternates between salt-and-pepper hair and the occasional dye job. Valimai struggles to get going, save for a few tense action sequences and a villain who is nearly as powerful as the hero.
