The University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle foundation (UOJSPVF) signs MoU with The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI)

New Delhi:- The University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle foundation (UOJSPVF) signed a Memorandum, of Understanding with the Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI).

This MOU aims to set out the framework for working relationship between Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle foundation (UOJSPVF) with an objective of to develop world class Centers of Excellence-CoE and Product Innovation Centre in collaboration with Industry partners that offers quality skill training ecosystem for trainees and promote innovation and startups.

It seeks to Develop Industry Integrated Programmes for various Electronics Sub Sectors under NEP in collaboration with Industry partners based on Industry demand that offers world class skill training, industry exposure through on job training /apprenticeship, multi entry –multi exit incorporating NSQF Qualification Packs as per the mandate from AICTE, UGC and other such regulatory bodies. The CoE will train and certify the Students, Startups team and faculty members and facilitate training and mentoring to students & startups by industry experts, mentors learning management systems and other learning tools developed by ESSCI.

The CoE will take up various skill development initiatives and projects for facilitating skill-based education to Promote Technology based innovations, startups and Micro Entrepreneurship and organize various events and awareness campaigns for promoting skill-based education and entrepreneurship in India.The MoU was signed by Mr. Saleem Ahmed, Vice President – Business Development on behalf of the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India and by Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu and Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director & CEO University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation in the August presence of Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor Jammu University and Prof. Jasbir Sing, Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu. Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar expressed great happiness on Occasion and hoped the relationship will go a long way in creating a true Industry-Academia relationhips.

About Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) :
The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) is a Not‐for‐Profit Organization, registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956.The Council has been promoted by six Associations i.e. CEAMA, ELCINA, IESA (formerly ISA) , IPCA, MAIT & ELCOMA, with financial support by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The associations collective represents the electronics sector. The ESSCI’s focus is on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting of outcome oriented skills for the Electronics Systems, Design and Manufacturing Industry (ESDM). ESSCI is responsible for standardization, accreditation and certification processes to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally.
It envisions to enable a world class electronics manufacturing industry with an ecosystem for skill development and enhance employability of the large number of Indian youth. The approach of ESSCI is to build a robust eco system of partners and knowledge contributors leading to research and analysis and developing a training mechanism leading to accreditation and certification of trained resources.
ESSCI has over 250 training partners having over 4000 training centers across the country, that are well equipped to undertake skill development across job roles in all segments of ESDM. ESSCI has developed 72 Qualifications and over 250 National Occupation Standards (NOS) across the 09 Sub-Sectors in the ESDM Sector.
About University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle foundation (UOJSPVF):
The University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle foundation (UOJSPVF) was created on basis of the 15 meeting of the RUSA Project Approval Board (PAB). Special Purpose Vehicle was to be initiated to facilitate the efficient and effective functioning of various Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hubs and for implementation of Quality Excellence initiatives at all the 10 Universities under RUSA 2.0 including University of Jammu. Further keeping into the view, the amount of grants being received by University of Jammu and their speedy and judicious disbursement, it was imperative that a Special Purpose Vehicle be created. Ministry of Human Recourses Development through RUSA had also reiterated that such a company may be incorporated so that the working of University of Jammu to be strengthened.
Thus, UOJSPVF was created in University of Jammu with following objectives:
Incubate and foster, promote and sustain, encourage develop and assist in every manner, any activity, work, programme, which directly or indirectly, contributes, promotes or helps in generation of innovation and innovative ideas in any thrust area.
These activities eventually benefit the society as a whole and may include providing funds to the eligible incubates in the form of the seed money or subsidized loans. Construct and build the required infrastructure, like office space, research labs, computer labs, conference room etc. which would provide help to the selected incubates to carry out their work and research on their innovation ideas in the campus of University of Jammu.
Carrying out educational activities like arranging of the conferences, conducting of the vocational courses, educational tours etc. help the incubates in fine tuning of their skills. Provide consultancy to the selected incubates regarding finance, legal, scientific, technical, nontechnical, marketing etc, which eventually helps them to grow their business.
Act as a facilitator and executor for University of Jammu to implement and execute relevant schemes of the government recipient of Rs 100 crores.
