Pcod – Polycystic ovarian disease

PCOD is a medical condition in which a woman’s sex hormone levels become abnormal. This results in faulty follicle growth when the follicle does not grow beyond a certain point, resulting in numerous cysts in the ovary and inappropriate ovulation. The majority of these cysts are harmless. Medical endocrinologists, reproductive endocrinologists, dermatologists, psychologists and/or psychiatrists, and dieticians can treat the many symptoms of PCOD. A dermatologist should be consulted for skin problems, and a reproductive endocrinologist should be consulted for infertility issues. Doctors may choose surgical treatment for PCOD to restore ovulation. Many laparoscopic procedures, such as electrocautery, laser drilling, multiple biopsies, and so on, are now in use. In women with resistant PCOD, laparoscopic ovarian drilling is being considered, or surgical therapy via ovarian drilling may be effective in circumstances where the patient is resistant to particular medicines. The primary treatment for PCOD is to live a healthy lifestyle that leads to weight loss. Many people fail to lose weight or do not ovulate (even after losing weight); at this point, doctors may use medication to induce ovulation. If a PCOD patient does not intend to become pregnant, she may utilize hormone therapy to manage ovarian hormones; to correct menstrual cycle disorders, hormones are utilized to protect the endometrial lining from accumulating for an extended period. Hormone therapy is also used to treat male pattern baldness and acne. A healthy lifestyle includes consuming a well-balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and the recommended amount of fat. To lose weight and feel better, one needs to engage in some form of physical activity. Smoking should be avoided since women who smoke regularly have high levels of hormones and hence are more likely to develop PCOD issues.
