The farmer’s riot

The farmer’s protest took place at Singh and Tikri border against the Indian government.

More than 35000 farmers took part in this protest. It was carried out to repeal the law passed in September 2020 by the Indian parliament, and no compromisation in the other direction. The riot was carried to get basic grant demands of poor farmers like to repeal the law passed by the parliament of India, get legal right for procurement of MSP, conventional procurement system for farmers,50% more than the average production cost, cut the ideal price by 50% for farming, bail of farmers for crop burning, abolishing of electricity ordinance, no interference in-state activities, close all the cases against farmer leaders and release them.

The riot was demonstrated by Punjab farmers, Haryana farmers, western Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Karnataka, and Kerala. Due to the riots carried in Punjab, the railways were closed temporarily for more than two months.


Under some political parties like all India Kisan sabha, Lok sangharsh morcha, krantikari Kisan union, and many more, the protest took place. While the demonstration was carried on, some food and snacks were provided by international NGOs with tents, medical facilities, and primary care taken of older farmers.

The supreme court of India had received a petition to off-throw the farmer’s protest to clear the blockage. Major disappointment was in the minds of farmers against the Modi government. He refused to listen to the demands of farmers and did not take accepted actions for the bill to pass. Female protestors blamed the Indian government and abused the festival of Lohri. The farmers decided not to give up even if the supreme court refused to pass the bill. The petition was filed in favor of farmers.
