An Air Force veteran offers heartfelt artwork on a soldier’s life

So far, the identity of the artwork’s artist is unknown.

A former group captain with the Indian Air Force (IAF) has published a beautiful work of art depicting the life of a soldier, which many believe depicted the 2019 attack on a security force convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.

Nitin Welde posted the drawing, which was done on a single long piece of paper and depicted several situations from the soldier’s life as one folds a portion of the sheet horizontally. The simple yet emotional artwork depicts a soldier hugging his wife while holding a single rose. He is then seen kissing his pregnant wife goodbye and boarding a bus. The bus is shown driving through a forested region before erupting into flames.

The following section depicts a row of caskets wrapped in the Indian tricolor, followed by a soldier honoring those killed in the attack. The final scene of the artwork closes the story with a simple “Jai Hind” written over a white background.

This piece of art has moved a lot of people on the internet.
Ranganathan Madhavan, an actor, retweeted the post and wrote, “Brilliant and emotional… “What a concept and talent… but most importantly, what a sacrifice.” Another Twitter user agreed, writing, “I don’t know who drew this, but this Art speaks louder than words!!”
Nitin Welde stated in the tweet description that he received the artwork video on WhatsApp. The video, which was shared on Monday, has 54,000 likes and nearly 15,000 retweets. So far, the artist’s identity is unknown.
