According to the most recent COVID-19 data, hospitalizations in Manitoba are on the rise

Positive test results decreased from 20.7% to 19%.

According to the most recent Manitoba public health bulletin, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations increased last week, while the number of COVID-19 deaths increased compared to the previous week.

The weekly report, which was released on Thursday, covers the week of April 10 to 16.

In that week, 206 patients have hospitalized hospitals with COVID-19, up from 177 the previous week, a 16% rise.

On Tuesday, CBC News obtained internal province data that showed more recent numbers, revealing that the number of people in hospital with COVID-19 had continued to rise.
According to internal data, there were 538 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, a 20% increase, or 90 patients, from 448 on April 12.
According to the same internal statistics, five more persons have died due to COVID-19 since the conclusion of the most recent reporting period. Manitoba had reported 1,774 deaths as of April 16, but that number grew to 1,779 between then and April 19.

Laboratory tests verified fewer instances last week than the previous week, with 1,190 confirmed cases compared to 1,694 the last week. This is a 30% drop.
Because of the restricted availability of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, the only type of test documented by health officials, official case statistics dramatically undercount the total number of infections.
The positive quick antigen tests results are not included in the official figures.
Last week, 594 new cases were reported in the Winnipeg health zone, 225 in the Prairie Mountain Health region, 157 in the Southern Health region, 147 in the Interlake-Eastern region, and 67 in the Northern Health Region.
Last week, labs completed 951 tests per day, a decline from the previous week’s daily average of 1,166 tests.
One outbreak was recorded at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, a long-term care facility.
There were three outbreaks the previous week and twelve the week before that, all of which occurred in long-term care facilities.
According to the weekly report, wastewater surveillance data, which monitors sewage for evidence of the virus that causes COVID-19, showed continuous transmission with a broad downward trend as of April 7.
