Do you have vision issues?

We must undergo frequent eye exams to ensure that our eyesight is at its best. But did you know that difficulties with your eyesight may also aid in diagnosing a variety of eye diseases?

To raise awareness about health concerns ahead of World Health Day (April 7), here are five significant disorders that routine eye exams may detect:

Cancer Symptoms include blurred vision, floaters, and ocular bulging. Tumors in the eye can lead to melanoma, which can be seen on the surface or inside the eyeball. Bulging is caused by a metastatic tumor that has spread to the eye from other body areas.

Diabetes type 1 and 2 may be indicated by sudden hazy vision. Diabetic retinopathy might develop if correct therapy is not received. This primary cause of lifelong blindness is caused by retinal capillary injury. Failure to maintain eye health may result in unanticipated complications in everyday living.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) If you have sudden acute eye discomfort, vision loss, or black patches while viewing, you may have multiple sclerosis. They would use MRIs of the brain and spine and blood testing to assess the kind of disease and therapy.

Autoimmune Disorder Automatic eye dryness is a common early sign of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and ocular cicatricial pemphigoid. Drops and gels are used to treat eye dryness, and additional medications are administered depending on which of the disorders you mentioned earlier have.

A stroke can also cause vision loss if an artery in the eye is blocked. A cardiac assessment is critical when this happens since it can develop cardiovascular disease and heart stroke if we don’t take care of it. Regular eye exams might help you prevent this predicament and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
