Book: Follow a tale of conflict between the supernatural and the real world

BRACKNELL, England, Charles Palmer-Cook had always wanted to write good fictional novels especially concerning folklore that had a Celtic theme.

As a child, he was exposed to the traditions and oral history of Scotland the myths, the legends and the beliefs passed down from generation to generation. It is for this reason he has written “Ringleye” (published by AuthorHouse UK), a fictional novel brings some of the old tradition and literature together in a tale of conflict between the supernatural and the real world.

Set against the glorious spectacular backdrop of the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire Scotland, in and around Castle Culzean and the shoreline of Croy Bay, this is the story of two differing factions, one human and the other mythical water kelpies. One faction faces defeat devastation and ridicule while the other faces total annihilation and extinction. Locked in conflict, one faction tries desperately to escape and the other is in deadly pursuit.

An excerpt from the book reads:

At that moment, I saw something move. At first I thought it was a cat prancing about on its hind legs. Then a chink of light caught it, and I just froze! My flesh crawled, for there right in front of me, was a kind of hideous dwarf with these terrible, evil eyes.

“This book will appeal to readers because this genre fascinates them as creatures from antiquity suddenly become real and materializing in a modern world, having to battle for survival and fleeing through a hostile world fraught with many dangers,” Palmer-Cook says. When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, he answers, “A sense of wonder and imagining, not just about the characters, but the country, the geography, the Scots and Irish are a close kin Celtic in origin, their culture and poetry and music are unique.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.authorhouse.com/en-gb/bookstore/bookdetails/787913-ringleye
