The inquiry into the arrest of a 42-year-old neurologist for allegedly installing spy cameras inside the house shared by two female physicians in the city has found that he attempted a similar effort a week earlier.
The probe also showed that he got entry to their home by duplicating a key after taking the original from one of the physicians’ bags. Two spy cameras were discovered on July 6 in the bathroom and bedroom of the official house occupied by two female doctors from a well-known hospital in Pune. The 42-year-old neurologist, who works at a major teaching hospital in the city, was detained on Monday by Pune police for reportedly placing the cameras.

He is also a consultant for several hospitals. “Our investigation has found that while the complainants initially discovered the concealed camera on July 6, the accused had installed it once before on June 29,” stated the inspector in charge of the police station investigating the case.
On June 30, he pulled it out and discovered that it had failed to capture anything, so he reinstalled it. Our inquiry also found that he got entry to the lodging by creating a duplicate key after taking the original one at work from the bag of one of the female physicians he had been working with. He placed the original key in her handbag after manufacturing a replica key.” According to the officer, “after the arrest, the accused was remanded to police custody for two days.”
He appeared in court again on Thursday, was remanded to magisterial prison, and then granted bail.” The accused neurologist has been charged under provisions of the Indian Penal Code dealing with trespassing. The prisoner has further been charged by violating the privacy of another person by “intentionally or knowingly recording, publishing, or sending the photograph of a private part of any person without his or her consent, under conditions infringing that person’s privacy.”
