Suresh Wadkar, a Padma Shri awardee and classical vocalist, paid a magnificent musical homage to Dr. Hansaji Yogendra.

In the presence of several renowned yoga gurus and experts, the Yoga Institute, Mumbai, honoured the birthday of its world-known Director, Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, at the institute grounds today with a heart-warming classical voice recital by Padma Shree awardee Shri Suresh Wadkar.

This will be followed by a free Yoga camp for women at the institute this evening to honour and celebrate Dr. Hansaji’s principles and aspirations.

Suresh Wadkar, a Padma Shri awardee and classical vocalist, paid a magnificent musical homage to Dr. Hansaji Yogendra as part of her birthday celebrations. The event was also recognised by the organising of a free Yoga Camp for Women between 6 and 8:30 p.m. at The Yoga Institute.
The camp was well-received and had passionate participation from women from all areas of life.This is in line with Dr. Hansaji Yogendra’s vision of making Yoga accessible to every member of society.
Shri Yogendraji, the venerable yoga guru known as the Father of the Modern Yoga Renaissance, founded the Yoga Institute in 1918. On December 25, 2018, the Yoga Institute celebrated its centennial anniversary.
Shri Ramnath Kovind, Former President of India, and M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ex-Vice President of India, attended the Institute’s 100th anniversary celebration.
Recognizing Dr. Hansaji J. Yogendra’s humanitarian work, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, presented The Yoga Institute with the Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Promotion and Development of Yoga.
The Yoga Institute is the world’s oldest organised Yoga centre and a non-profit organisation.
