E42: AI-led Cognitive Process Automation can automate various tasks, from CS to SCME42E42: AI-led Cognitive Process Automation can automate various tasks, from CS to SCM

Prittle Prattle News in conversation with Animesh Samuel, Co-founder & CEO – of E42

Enterprises are automating various functions ranging from HR, recruitment, customer service, finance, legal, IT operations, and more – but in silos. With E42, all this can be triggered from a single omnichannel channel interface (across web/WhatsApp/Microsoft Teams/etc.) in natural language from anywhere!

  • What does your company do? Your role in it?

I’m Animesh Samuel, the CEO and Co-Founder of E42- a no-code cognitive process automation (CPA) platform to build AI co-workers that automate various enterprise processes. These AI workers include AI Analysts, AI Recruiters, AI HR Executives, AI Business Development Executives, and more – building enterprise cognition.

It combines deep tech in AI NLP with a powerful UI that empowers subject matter experts to quickly create an AI workforce that automates processes across enterprise verticals and functions at scale. The platform proves that the assumption that cognition rests only within humans and only robotic processes can be automated is no longer valid.

  • Evolution in the past few years in the industry you work in. Your contribution to the betterment?

Over the past few years, AI-led enterprise automation has undergone significant evolution. At the outset, technology like RPA or Robotic Process Automation was used to automate simple, repetitive tasks, such as data entry and report generation. As AI has advanced, so has its ability to automate more complex business processes. Today, AI-led CPA or Cognitive Process Automation can automate various tasks, from customer service to supply chain management. Furthermore, this technology can be integrated into enterprise systems, allowing for more seamless and efficient automation.

In addition, the proliferation of cloud computing has made it easier for companies to adopt AI automation solutions without significant upfront investment. Looking ahead, it is likely that AI-led enterprise automation will continue to evolve as businesses seek to optimize their operations and stay competitive in an ever-changing landscape.

What E42 offers is end-to-end automation of business processes across domains and industries. While there’re enterprises that are automating functions – but in silos, most enterprise systems lack cognitive capabilities. This means losing out on the benefits of automating simple and complex tasks, including HR, customer care, IT Operations, etc

Multifunctional cognitive agents or AI co-workers built on E42 solve this problem by making the whole enterprise intelligent across functions.

  • Any Success routine you would like to suggest

We have always ensured that we have a clear vision of what we want to achieve and a well-defined strategy to get there. To succeed, an organization needs a diverse team with technical and business expertise and experience in the relevant industry. At E42, we prioritize the needs of our users by understanding their pain points, identifying areas for improvement, and developing solutions that address their needs. Continuous learning and improvement are necessary to stay ahead of the evolving field of AI. We duly achieve that by continuously bettering and upgrading our product with the latest research and development and implementing feedback from customers and users.

  • How did the company raise funding, or are you looking forward to the same?

In October 2021, E42 raised $5.4 million in Series A funding led by Pavestone Ventures. We are prepping for series B funding while working on a new version of our platform to reduce the creation, training, and maintenance time for an AI worker, enhance models for better accuracy, and intelligent document processing (IDP) with the layout as well as natural language understanding.

  • Explain Post Covid-19 Scenario by 2030 for the company and your career.
It’s difficult to predict the exact post-COVID-19 scenario for our company by 2030, as there are many unknown variables and potential changes in the global economy, technology, and society. However, we can consider several trends and possible outcomes based on current developments.
The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of AI in various industries, such as healthcare, finance, and retail. This trend is expected to continue in the post-pandemic world as businesses seek ways to increase efficiency and productivity while minimizing human-to-human contact. The continued growth of remote work is also something the pandemic has also led to, with a massive shift from traditional workspaces towards remote work. This has been enabled by advances in AI technologies such as virtual assistants and collaboration tools. This trend is expected to continue in the post-pandemic world as businesses realize remote work’s benefits and continue investing in AI-powered tools to support it. The job structure will change in this post-pandemic AI era, where E42 AI workers will replace repetitive human jobs. The skill can be taught on the platform to anyone with basic computer knowledge to create high-end AI solutions for large and small enterprises. It’s like a technology proven and live at several large companies and will be made accessible to most enterprises via any certified technician on the platform. Every AI worker today reduces carbon footprint by eliminating paper needs as enterprise systems can connect and even personal devices directly and reduce the need for humans to travel to work!
  • Why did you choose this industry over any other space?

As I am deeply passionate about AI and can solve complex problems, I want to make a positive impact in the world as AI has the potential to revolutionize many industries, from healthcare to finance to transportation which our company is bringing in. In general, AI provides an opportunity to create solutions that can help people in meaningful ways.

  • Inspiring quote for aspiring youth.

Believe in the power of dreams…The wonders of today were once dreams of “crazy” people. Dream, Pursue, Achieve.

  • Do you like participating in CSR initiatives, and what motivates you?

Yes, as an organization, we are motivated by a strong desire to help others, protect the environment, and promote social justice. We’re exploring opportunities to create a solution that benefits people in need in any capacity possible.

  • Would you like to name a few people who helped you the most in your professional upliftment (Just names, no designation or companies needed? It could be a small way to thank them)
My Co-Founder and lead inspiration Sanjeev, my partner and motivator Shifa, and everyone who touched my life – I’ve only learned from those experiences and, of course, authors like Malcom, Dawson, Yuval Noah Sam Harris, and others.
  • Could you elaborate on the challenges you encountered while establishing and retaining?
When we started in 2012, we were chasing a crazy dream – to teach machines how to understand and comprehend human language, which was considered impossible back then! So, no one took us seriously; many even wondered what the point was! We persisted! We kept the core team close; they are all with us today. We had invested everything we owned initially, and VCs didn’t get what we were trying to achieve.
Several stories brought us back from the brink of collapse. But one of the most interesting ones is how we got the data to train the AI models. The thing with AI is that we need two aspects – computational power and data. For computational power, we got access to GPUs from Microsoft, Google, and Oracle as part of their startup programs and Moore’s Law! The challenge was to get the training data. Our competitors (like IBM) hired humans to create this; we, on the other hand, couldn’t afford that, so we had to set up a hack to get this. We developed algorithms and small generative AI models on transformer networks and waited. Then we launched the world’s first answering engine! It was a core version of ChatGPT (that we are all familiar with today) on SMS. This went viral, and we got millions of QnA pairs, which helped us bootstrap the data we needed to build E42! Of course, even that gained us lots of recognition in the form of awards and being selected in the Jio Gennext Hub as part of their first cohort. Then our persistence paid off when we secured the support of giants like Microsoft, Times Group, Reliance Industries, etc. As our platform reduces the workforce and works 24/7, we know that businesses will benefit from our offering.
Today E42’s clientele consists of Fortune 500 companies, SMEs, and startups across sectors: from automobile majors and pharmaceutical giants to BFSI, telecom, and new-age unicorns. E42 is disrupting the enterprise automation space to deliver a seamless user experience by maximizing efficiencies and scalability while minimizing complexities and costs.
