The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign.

The National Pension System Diwas (NPS Diwas) will be observed on October 1st by the Pension Regulator to promote pension and retirement planning among Indian residents and enjoy financial freedom after retirement.

This initiative is being promoted by the PFRDA on its social media platforms.

The pension regulator’s goal is to urge every citizen (working professionals and self-employed professionals) to plan for a pension corpus in order to ensure a financially secure retirement.

NPS subscribers will benefit from a tax break on payments, the power of compounding, and regular income after retirement.

“We are happy to continue our celebration of October 1st as “NPS Diwas – A Day for Pension Planning.” We are renewing our commitment to raising public awareness of pension planning with this campaign. As a regulatory agency, our primary goal is to cover all eligible individuals under a pension system in order to realise India’s vision of a pensioned society.”

PFRDA Chairperson Shri Supratim Bandyopadhyay said

As of 24th September 2022, the total number of subscribers under NPS is 571.86 lakhs (5.72 crores), and the total Assets Under Management (AUM) is 7,99,467 crore (7.99 trillion).
