In preparation for the 3rd wave, NGO Vision Rescue donates 54,800 units of Covid-19 protective materials to Kerala Police & Kerala Health & Family Welfare Department

NGO Vision Rescue handed over 54,800 units of Covd-19 protective material, such as KN95 masks, surgical masks, hand sanitisers, alcohol wipes and sprays, to DGP Kerala Police Shri Anil Kant, and to District Medical Officer (Thiruvananthapuram)

Dr. Jose G D’Cruz, at the Police Headquarters and the District Medical Office, respectively, here in Thiruvananthapuram earlier today. The donation was made by NGO Vision Rescue for the benefit of frontline workers such as police, municipal healthcare staff and others. Collectively the items amount to 9 tonnes, and are worth Rs. 42,54,600/-

38,200 protective items such as KN95 masks, surgical masks, hand sanitisers, alcohol wipes and sprays were first donated for the benefit of Kerala police at the Police Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking at the event, ADGP Kerala Police, Shri Manoj Abraham said, “The Kerala Police is very thankful to Vision Rescue for this humanitarian activity where they have come out and understood the problems of the police and the service that police officers are doing to the community in the present times of COVID.

They have come up with a very apt response where they have donated sanitizers, masks and related items which will help the police officers who are serving on the field on a day-to-day basis to ensure that they follow the COVID protocols and do their duty without fear. So on behalf of Kerala police, I want to thank Vision Rescue for this effort and I’m sure this partnership will go ahead in the days to come.”

16,600 protective items such as KN95 masks, surgical masks, hand sanitisers, alcohol wipes and sprays were then donated for the benefit of Kerala Health & Family Welfare Department, at the District Medical Office today. Speaking at the handover, District Medical Officer (Thiruvananthapuram) Dr Jose G D’Cruz said, “The Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, is very much thankful to the Vision Rescue team for supplying the life-saving protective equipment for the battle against Covid-19 in Kerala.” Administrative officer, Dr. Dhanuja V.A was also present at the handover.

Speaking about the donation, Mr Biju Thampy, Founder Vision Rescue, said, “The reason we take up this initiative is because we believe that it is the responsibility of every citizen to show gratitude to healthcare and police departments because our healthcare workers, policemen and policewomen have been working day and night for the protection of each one of us for the last 1.7 years of the pandemic. I believe it’s only a very normal gesture that we think about their protection and their safety, and I urge every citizen to do something to show your gratitude to these amazing forces who work tirelessly for our protection.”

In the last 1.75 years of the pandemic, NGO Vision Rescue has reached out to vulnerable communities in 14 states across India freely distributing grocery kits for over 2.37 million meals to those in need, and 1,77,000 pieces of protective gear to Covid-19 hospitals, police stations & municipal corporation offices. The NGO is now in the process of distributing 436,846 additional pieces of protective gear (90.4 tonnes worth) to police and public health departments in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and other locations. The 54,800 units donated here today form part of the NGO’s current phase of nation-wide pandemic relief material distributions.
