PM Modi conducts a critical meeting amid a third wave warning, with 1,500 oxygen plants for nearly 4 lakh beds.

PM Modi has instructed authorities to work closely with state governments to ensure that the plants are ready to address difficulties in the event of a third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic shortly.

During a high-level meeting on Friday, PM Modi announced that more than 1,500 PSA Oxygen plants would be built up across the country shortly to alleviate the oxygen shortages experienced by several hospitals across many states.

Officials briefed PM Modi that these PSA Oxygen plants can support more than 4 lakh oxygenated beds.

PM Modi held a high-level conference on Friday to discuss medical oxygen augmentation and availability across the country. Other executives present at the meeting included the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Secretary of Health, and Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

After learning about the state of the PSA Oxygen plants, Prime Minister Modi directed authorities to ensure that people are operational as soon as possible.

PM Modi also stated that hospital workers should receive the appropriate training in the operation and maintenance of oxygen plants. Meanwhile, officials informed him that specialists had created a training program, and they plan to teach 8,000 individuals around the country.

PM Modi further stated that modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) should be used to track the performance and operation of these oxygen plants both locally and nationally. PM Modi also went through the results of a pilot project that uses IoT to monitor the functioning of oxygen plants.

Every day, up to 2.25 lakh persons will be tested for coronavirus, which is more than double the amount screened during the second wave. The administration has also made plans to treat 60,000 people each day, double the average for the second wave.

According to the affidavit, further planned measures include establishing a command and control room to oversee Covid-related operations in each district, a dashboard for real-time information on bed availability, and the appointment of a COVID-19 nodal officer in each hospital.
