Switzerland legalizes suicide device, No.1 News to know!

Suicide is not a solution to anything. We have to learn to adjust and be flexible in life. As said by Bruce Lee, a person should be “formless” like water. Lee noted that just like water has no shape and becomes whatever it is poured into, one must be resilient and not fall into suicide attempts.

Keeping a hand in heart Switzerland has legalized a machine that promises painless death within one minute. The death occurs through hypoxia and hypocapnia by reducing the oxygen to a critical level in the pod. The device can be operated from inside even by blinking if the person using it suffers from locked-in syndrome (complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in the body except for vertical eye movements and blinking). The device got many adverse reactions from opponents of euthanasia because of the method. This user is unaware of his potential to live his life to this machine’s full use.

One can take the machine to the preferred location, and then the biodegradable capsule is detached from the base to serve as a coffin. This machine is dangerous for those who believe in themselves and are willing to survive. Rather than going for suicide attempts, one can consult a psychologist to help reduce mental pressure or depression or go to de-addiction centers.
Assisted suicide is made legal in Switzerland, and around 1300 people used the services of euthanasia organizations last year. Dr. Philip Nitschke, the non-profit organization Exit International, also known as “Dr. Death,” is the mind behind the suicide pod.

Dr. Philip Nitschke said, “barring any unforeseen difficulties, we hope to be ready to make Sarco available for use in Switzerland next year. It’s been a costly project so far, but we think we’re pretty close to implementation now.”

However, Nitschke received adverse reactions because of the method used by his machine; some have even said that it’s just a glorified gas chamber. Some said that the device boosts and glamorizes suicide. At present, only two Sarco prototypes exist, but Exit International is 3D printing a third machine, and it is expected to be ready for operation in Switzerland next year.
Though some find it easy to end their lives with this machine, it is risky. One should take life as an opportunity; he should embrace the change in his life. One should think deeply to improve one’s life rather than ending life. There are many suicide prevention and mental health line numbers. We can improve our lifestyle by serving others or motivating ourselves by engaging in sports activities; we can involve ourselves in social gatherings. Reading plays a crucial role in releasing stress and lowering depression. Listening to music is another way to alter suicide thoughts.
From research, one of the most common suicide prevention techniques is psychotherapy- also known as talk therapy- in the form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a standard treatment option for individuals suffering from various mental disorders. In this method, you are taught new ways of dealing with stress and stressful life experience. Dialectical Behavior Therapy introduces techniques to deal with difficult or troubling situations. Medications can also be prescribed as a prevention method for suicide.

Increased education and awareness among medical professionals might decrease suicide rates in the future. In additional effort to bring attention to suicide and risk factors associated with suicide, September 10 has been observed as World Suicide Prevention Day.
