A real estate entrepreneur whose close friend is murdered takes the investigation in hand and becomes as ruthless as the killers he seeks

KEY WEST, Fla., Gordon N. McIntosh announces his return to the publishing scene with the release of “Walk a Thin Wire” (published by iUniverse).

It is the story of a real estate entrepreneur whose close friend is murdered when he uncovers a drug conspiracy and takes the investigation in hand, becoming as ruthless as the unscrupulous enemies he seeks.

A respected Chicago journalist uncovers a conspiracy between an American drug company and a secret Cuban biological laboratory, a collaboration that both governments are determined to conceal. The reporter is murdered to prevent publication of his findings, but not before he hands over his research to his close friend, Doug Sutherland. The Cuban and American operations are experimenting with mutated viruses and biological weaponry, and a cabal interfering in foreign politics controls both labs.

As Sutherland struggles to expose the conspiracy and bring justice to his murdered friend, he is the target of several near-fatal attacks. These close calls convince him that he can no longer rely on luck and self-defense alone but must abandon his scruples and become as merciless as his cold-blooded antagonists. Sutherland pinpoints which adversaries need to be eliminated and devises a risky plan to carry out the executions. Adopting the role of assassin, he walks a thin wire between life and death.

“This is a fast paced read, has interesting protagonists and villains, and has a very plausible and timely plot. To my knowledge, no one is writing about secret Cuban biological labs and their collaboration with our government. Nor have I read a novel where the plot can plausibly revolve around a coin toss as it does in this book,” McIntosh says. When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, he answers, “When human corruption and government secrecy combine there is the real potential for catastrophic results. The best defense against such sinister collusion is our press, but the media alone cannot correct all wrongs. That’s when the moral line between right and wrong becomes blurred.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.iuniverse.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/824061-walk-a-thin-wire
