“An intermediate adult needs at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night,” Dr. Asma stated, referring to natural sleep rather than the amount of time spent in bed. If a person does not feel refreshed after 7 hours of sleep and still needs naps throughout the day, they may be suffering from a sleep addiction.”

According to the health expert, sleep addiction is not a medical problem, but various other illnesses may cause excessive drowsiness. It can guide you to sleep conditions like hypersomnia if you have symptoms like irritation, brain fog, weariness, and memory problems. Long durations of sleep, excessive daytime sleeping, or both are symptoms of this sleep disorder. According to the dietician, excessive daytime sleepiness can be caused by illnesses such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, dysphagia, and others.
