Malshej Ghat

During the monsoon season, Maharashtra is a fantastic place to visit. It is home to some of the most beautiful hill stations, which are popular tourist destinations.

Malshej is nestled in the lush green Western Ghats, Maharashtra’s pride and joy. It means stunning views of green hills surround you. So if you have a free weekend this monsoon and want to go somewhere, Malshej Ghat is one of the best places to go. But, unfortunately, the mountains are shrouded in clouds. That’s when it rains. The rich green flora of the highlands is intermingled with numerous waterfalls. The yellow and pink wildflowers complement the colors of the environment. The rains have given birth to new life to valleys, babbling brooks, and rolling meadows of green grass. The rains have resulted in seasonal torrents cascading down cliffs into mountain roadways.

Vehicles stop for an extra 5 minutes under these waterfalls to take advantage of such natural car washes. Malshej Ghat is embellished with a variety of breathtaking waterfalls. These waterfalls appear magnificent against the backdrop of rough mountains. There are several bird and plant species to be found in the Malshej region. From flamingos and cuckoos to quails and crakes, this area is home to a diverse avian species. Boating and camping are popular lakeside activities during the monsoon and winter seasons when the reservoir has enough water. The Malshej hills feature a variety of pathways for treks ranging from easy to strenuous. The most well-known is the journey to Harishchandragad, a hill fort at an elevation of 1,422 meters. Ancient temples and fortresses enhance the hike atop the hill. Another trekking alternative is to ascend the 400 stairs of Shivneri Fort, approximately 20 kilometers from Malshej Ghat. Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in Shivneri. At Pimpalgaon Joga, you can see various species, including the Great Egret, Indian Cormorant, River Terns, and Kingfisher. Migratory flamingos visit the area during the winter.
