Agoro Carbon Alliance, backed by Yara, has launched its operations in Nasik to ‘grow with the growers’

With this move, Agoro Carbon Alliance establishes a strong footprint in Maharashtra, exponentially benefiting the farming community

Maharashtra, December 13, 2021: Backed by Yara (Yara Fertilisers), one of the global agricultural leaders in crop nutrition, Agoro Carbon Alliance, founded to address the global challenge in agriculture at the core of its operations, launched its operations in Nashik to further help build good fertigation practices benefiting the planet and the growers. Maharashtra, being a high-value market, has a direct link to the import-export paradigm due to its high visibility. Agoro Carbon Alliance is exploring methods to collaborate with farmers to develop avenues for them to adopt more climate-smart practices.

Over the last few years, Yara Fertilisers, India, has established a strong presence by building several positive partnerships with growers based on trust and confidence. Leveraging this strong relationship and trust that Yara Fertilizers has established with the farmers in the region, Agoro Carbon Alliance will educate farmers about the benefits of partnering with them. The platform will also show how it can help growers with carbon financing while partnering with them to achieve success.

Understanding the present paradigm regarding agronomic techniques and farmer socioeconomic realities is critical before the work begins on a phased success strategy. This will allow growers to transition to more climate-smart farming practices. Agoro Carbon Alliance is doing this through fertigation as a crop management practice. Although it is not a new concept, it has gained popularity and attention in recent years. It boosts agricultural nutrient efficiency while also improving water management.

Commenting on the latest development,Prithviraj Sen Sharma, Managing Director of Agoro Carbon Alliance India, said,”We are excited to work with the farmers and rope them into our program and ensure their growth. At present, we are focusing on horticulture crops in Maharashtra, and hope to establish reliable farm-credit generating carbon projects by expanding the program throughout the region. Our operations in Nashik come after successfully launching in Punjab and Haryana and we aim to make the most of this market.”
Speaking about the association with Agoro Carbon Alliance, Manoj Jadhav,a farmer from Nasik, said, “We farmers are confronted with a slew of productivity and market access issues. Agoro Carbon Alliance provides accurate information and assists us in implementing technology that enables smart agriculture, resulting in increased crop yield and double our income, allowing us to become Atmanirbhar.”

Growers in Maharashtra are highly innovative and progressive. Agoro Carbon Alliance is looking to bring standardization and rationalization from the grower’s perspective on the crop they are growing and the market they belong to.
