Bus services from Tamil Nadu to Puducherry restarted July 12 onwards

The government said that restaurants, shops, and various other retail outlets that were previously permitted to operate until 8 p.m. with a 50% occupancy rider would be granted an additional hour beginning Monday. Bus services to neighboring Puducherry will resume on July 12, and shop businesses will be allowed to visit open unto 9 p.m., the administration said on Saturday. The government announced further relaxations under the continuing ‘unlock’ exercise, saying restaurants, shops, and various other retail establishments that were previously permitted to operate until 8 p.m. “with a 50 percent occupancy rider” will gain an extra hour starting Monday. According to an official announcement issued here, competitive examinations for central and state government positions would be authorized. Schools, universities, zoos, theatres, restaurants, and swimming pools will remain closed until July 19. Also, as previously, social, political, sporting, entertainment, and cultural gatherings would be forbidden. According to the administration, norms already in place for weddings and funerals, which limit the number of attendees to 50 and 20, respectively, will be maintained. Tamil Nadu imposed a lockdown on May 10 to battle the second wave of COVID-19, and last month progressive relaxations in lockdown restrictions were given in response to a drop in viral infections.
