Ukrainians feed a Russian soldier and help him contact home

As a woman connects a video call to his home, the young soldier can be seen sipping tea.

A touching video of a Ukrainian assisting a Russian soldier has gone viral. In the short video, the young Russian soldier can be seen sipping tea and eating a snack as he tries to calm himself. A woman standing nearby is seen attempting to connect a video call to his residence.

The soldier bursts into tears when the phone connects. He appears to be too astonished to speak, but he blows kisses to the camera as people massage him on the back to soothe him.

According to The Sun’s translation, a bystander can be heard saying in the video, “These young men, it’s not their fault.” They have no idea why they are here. “They’re using ancient maps, they’re lost,” another person says, joining him.

Christopher Miller, a BuzzFeed news correspondent, uploaded a 1:42-second video on Twitter, which has received over one million views and thousands of likes and shares. Miller noted in the caption that the video was shared on Telegram.
While many individuals appear to be moved by the kindness of Ukrainian civilians, some have pointed out that distributing videos of prisoners of war violates Geneva Convention principles.
Many similar films, however unverified, are being distributed online, showing captured Russian soldiers being properly treated by civilians.
Previously, videos of Ukrainians opposing the Russian assault by relocating explosives with their own hands or hauling military trucks away with farm tractors went viral.
