Young Indian Women: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to put forward intense challenges to society overall. These lifestyle habits have been a prevalent concern amongst young individuals that have given rise to many health problems, including gynaecological issues as well.

  • MediBuddy witnesses a 78% increase in gynaecological consultations
  • Maximum consultations records from young adults amongst 19-30 years of age

With the increasing number of women complaining of issues relating to the reproductive organ, MediBuddy, India’s largest digital healthcare platform, recently witnessed a surge of 78% consultations relating to gynaecological problems and diseases amongst young women, especially in the age group of 19 to 30 years.

The digital platform observed 23% of women complaining of irregular periods and over a 20% rise in concerns relating to missed periods. The data also reflects that there has been an 18% rise in PCOS/PCOD health problems and an over 11% increase in issues relating to discharge flow. The data further recorded an increase in problems relating to genital skin infections, urinary infections, and other reproductive issues.

The consultations recorded were mostly amongst young adults from age 19 to 30, followed by those from age 31 to 40 and adolescents from 12 to 18.

Issues amongst women relating to their menstruation and reproductive organs have been on the rise in recent years. The noteworthy change in lifestyle amongst the female population and increasing awareness regarding health issues has been one of the underlying factors for the recent surge in cases. Increasingly, women are now seeking medical attention and timely treatment for all their gynaecological problems.
Commenting on the data recorded, Satish Kannan, Co-founder & CEO, MediBuddy, said “The increasing issues related to gynaecology, especially amongst young women is a rather concerning matter. It is extremely vital that these issues are resolved at the earliest and are not left to escalate into bigger and more pressing health problems that are likely to be more severe. We urge women to continue seeking medical attention for any health-related problems. It is important that individuals prioritize their health and wellbeing today for a better and healthier tomorrow.”
