Five egregious eating habits that are wreaking havoc on your stomach

If you are constantly affected by digestive disorders such as constipation, heartburn, and bloating, you may have certain lifestyle behaviors interfering with the digestion process. Our poor lifestyle choices, such as eating the wrong foods (processed, highly spicy foods, artificial sweeteners), not exercising or maintaining a sedentary lifestyle, and suppressing the desire to urinate, may contribute to digestive problems.

Sometimes it’s none of the above, and the problem might be some terrible eating habits we don’t notice before, after, or while we eat. Furthermore, if your eating is motivated by emotions, you will invite weight into your life and a slew of other health disorders, such as indigestion.

So, if you can’t figure out why you’re experiencing so many stomach issues, it might be due to specific dietary blunders you’re making unknowingly.

Eating when you are not hungry: While dining at a specific time is a desirable habit, eating when you are not hungry indicates that you are not paying attention to your brain signals. When you eat without feeling hungry, your brain has not received any calls from your stomach to release digestive juices, and you may experience digestive troubles.

Eating to numb your emotions: Emotional eating and calorie overloading oneself for the aim of experiencing a temporary respite from destructive emotions is pointless. This is nothing more than a diversion to repress certain feelings, which results in a complete overflow of your digestive system.

Drinking too much water shortly before or after meals: Drinking too much water may quickly dilute your digestive fluids, similar to how you learned in grade 8 chemical class to dilute an acid by adding water.

Eating while multitasking: Eating on the fly is a bad habit for everyone, and it also compromises your digestive system. On the other hand, eating thoughtfully ensures that you not only digest your meal correctly but also help in optimal nutritional absorption.
Failure to eat under your dosha type: Last but not least, Dr. adds that eating against your dosha type – Kapha, Vata, Pitta – might be causing digestive issues for you.
