The 5 Types of Signifies Tequila
There are three main varieties of Tequila—Blanco, reposado, and añejo—with two new changes.
Also appreciated as silver tequila, Blanco is the unaged definition of tequila derived from the blue Weber agave and greeting from one of five western countries in Mexico. Look for containers that are named “100% blue agave.” Blanco tequilas are perfect candidates for Margaritas.
Blanco bottles labeled “Joven” typically contain a small amount of aged tequila blended with unaged tequila.
Tequila Reposado is tequila aged in American or European oak barrels for at least two months and up to a year. Reposado tequilas advance for more dynamic, delicious Margaritas.
Tequila añejo is tequila grown in American or European oak containers for at least a year. (Some producers introduce other barrels into the aging and blending means as well.) Añejo tequilas are best for sipping neat or an alternative base spirit in recipes that call for brownish souls like whiskey.
Rare extra añejo words are aged for at least three years.
