First-ever video streaming OTT (Over the top) platform for exclusive Marathi content. Filmmaker and producer Akshay Bardapurkar, along with actor Pushkar Shrotrii and music composer Aditya Oke is all set to launch Planet Marathi OTT in December. Planet Marathi OTT will offer films, theatre, television shows, infotainment, educational content for kids, fiction, non-fiction, and reality shows. The OTT will also stream content like karaoke songs, recipes, yoga, health, and live-fitness videos. So far, the platform has 50,000 hours of Marathi content, and Akshay Bardapurkar and team Planet Marathi OTT plans to double the total content available on the platform by the end of this year.
While Planet Marathi OTT is a subscription video-on-demand platform, the subscription plan is yet to be finalized. But subscription plans will be cost-effective and pocket friendly even for a common man too. The OTT will be available on both iOS and Android globally. According to Bardapurkar, the overall population of Maharashtrians worldwide is roughly 30 crore. “In Maharashtra alone, there are 14 crore Maharashtrians. If this population can contribute to Hindi and other language content, they certainly can do it for their mother tongue,” he said.
Chief Managing Director (CMD) Akshay Bardapurkar and Aditya Oke, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of production company Planet Marathi has announced the launch of Ticket Window, a select pay-per-view format of the movie experience.
Last month, producer Akshay Bardapurkar, actor Pushkar Shrotri and music composer Aditya V Oke had recently announced the launched an OTT (over-the-top) platform, Planet Marathi OTT, exclusively for Marathi content. Now the service initially will be starting with a segment titled ‘Planet Marathi Digital Theatre.’ This new service will be available for audiences by the first week of September. Planet Marathi is the first-ever OTT (over-the-top) platform to enable the ‘first day – first show’ experience in India, especially for Marathi films.
Talking about this new service model, Bardapurkar, the chief managing director, and Oke, the chief operating officer, said in an official statement, “We are initiating the ‘pay-per-view’ model falling under the ambit of Planet Marathi OTT. It means that the ticket windows will open up for our audiences to purchase their online tickets and watch their favorite movie online at a one-time fee like never before!”
Bardapurkar revealed how the idea was developed, “Maharashtra film body recently announced in a press release appealing producer to release/sell their films digitally due to the COVID-19 impact. Producers are facing insurmountable losses, and it was only natural that producers will try to stay afloat with the help of OTT’s in these trying times.”
