Mahua Moitra claims she can’t even buy trousers for her father without providing a phone number, and she tags Decathlon on Twitter

Mahua Moitra went to Decathlon to buy a pair of trousers for her father and was requested to enter her phone number and email ID at the billing counter. Dissatisfied, Mahua Moitra refused and tweeted directly from the store, slamming Decathlon for “violating privacy rules and consumer laws.”

“Would like to buy my father trousers for Rs 1499 in CASH at @Decathlon India.” Ansal Plaza and the management require that I enter my mobile number and email address in order to make a transaction. Sorry, @Decathlon India, but you are breaking both privacy and consumer laws by insisting on this. “I’m at the store right now (sic. ),” Mahua Moitra tweeted.

Soon after her post went popular, Mahua Moitra received a text from a Supreme Court lawyer, which she screenshotted and posted on her Facebook page. She further stated that the manager “eventually keyed in his number & got me out of the store (with dad’s pants).” However, @Decathlon India needs to reconfigure right now.”
Despite her admiration for the boss, Mahua Moitra was dissatisfied with her time at Decathlon.

In response to Mahua Moitra’s complaint against Decathlon, the social media users expressed a variety of viewpoints.
