COLUMBIA, S.C., Feb. 8, 2021 Dr. James A. Franklin Sr., a lifelong educator, has completed his new book “Golden Nuggets”: an inspiring recounting that discusses African Americans as patriots and folkways and mores of the old South that affected African Americans.

Franklin writes, Dr. James “This document will look at a number of characteristics about my hometown of McCormick, South Carolina. Of particular importance, it will address one of the most successful organizations which helped black male youth back in the day and how we may use part of the ideals from that organization today. It will also cover some of the characteristics of a typical Southern black community and some highlights and challenges which the black community faced. Further, the project will address a couple of black heroes of the old South, black patriotism to the United States, and the positive way of how black and white children associated in the Old South.”
