Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan, who made an unmistakable imprint on Indian film, was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well-known Hindi poet.

Teji Bachchan, his mother, was a well-educated and forward-thinking woman. On June 3, 1973, he married Jaya Bhaduri. Amitabh had his elementary schooling at St. Mary’s School in Allahabad. He was subsequently transferred to Sherwood, a well-known Nainital school. He received his bachelor’s degree from Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College.

He had decided to pursue a profession in ‘acting’ while attending this institution. Amitabh came to Bombay (Mumbai) in 1969, when he was twenty-seven years old. Amitabh Bachchan began his cinematic career in 1969 with the film ‘Saat Hindustani,’ directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. For the film ‘Anand,’ he received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Amitabh’s career took a new turn in 1973, with the release of the film ‘Zanjeer.’ Because of his live performance as a police inspector in this film, he earned the moniker “Angry Youngman.” The movie ‘Sholay’ broke box office records and became the most commercially successful Hindi film in history. Following this, Amitabh Bachchan rose to fame and popularity as a superstar. In 1984, Amitabh Bachchan entered politics. He did elect to the Lok Sabha representing Allahabad. He resigned from his position in 1987, three years before the end of his tenure as an M.P., and distanced himself from politics.

Amitabh Bachchan joined the realm of television in 2000 with the television reality program ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’ and enhanced his financial situation and attained a new level of popularity and success. He has appeared in almost 150 films. Some of his well-known films in which he played the lead part are ‘Zanjeer,’ ‘Sholay,’ ‘Amar Akbar Anthony,’ ‘Trishul,’ ‘Don,’ ‘Muqaddar ka Sikandar,’ and ‘Mr. ‘Natwarlal,’ ‘Naseeb,’ ‘Lavaris,’ ‘Silsila,’ ‘Namak Halal,’ ‘Quli,’ ‘Agneepath,’ ‘Suryavansham,’ ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham,’ ‘Baghban,’ ‘Black,’ ‘Pa,’ and so on. He was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ in 1983 and the ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2005 for his efforts.
In 1999, a BBC poll named him Actor of the Millennium. He was named ‘Personality of the Year’ by the International Film Academy in 2002. So far, he has garnered 12 Filmfare Awards. Aside from that, he has won Filmfare’s ‘Best Actor award five times. President Ram Nath Kovind bestowed the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on Amitabh Bachchan on December 29, 2019.

Amitabh Bachchan is India’s pride. He has a wide range of abilities. Apart from acting, he has also played playback songs in several films and has created many of them. Because of his enormous achievement, he has been dubbed “Big B” and “the great hero of the century.” Amitabh constantly stressed that life, time, and opportunities do not come around again. Signifying a result, even in the face of adversity, we must maintain the bravery to achieve.
